Voice and languages

More ways in: voice, read-aloud and 13 languages.

Learners can type or speak, and read or listen. The tutor replies in the language your organisation chooses, from 13 including Welsh, Scottish Gaelic and Arabic.

Speak and listen

Talk to the tutor instead of typing

Learners press the microphone and speak; their words appear as they talk, and the tutor can read its replies aloud. Voice input and read-aloud currently work in British English.

  1. Press the microphone

Learners speak instead of typing, where the browser and device support it.

  2. Words appear as they talk

The transcript builds live, so learners can see what the tutor heard.

  3. A pause sends it

When the learner stops speaking, the message goes to the tutor.

  4. Hear the reply

With read-aloud on, each reply is spoken in a British English voice.
